There have been some signature devices that have stood out with the release of Windows 8 – the Asus, Lenovo , Microsoft , Acer S7 and now with the XPS 11 Dell seems to have come up with another good option for Ultrabook users.
Back at Computex 2013 Dell first announced the XPS 11 s and today more details have been revealed. The Dell XPS 11 is an 11.6″ screened convertible Ultrabook whose design is similar to the Lenovo Yoga series, with a display that folds back all the way into tablet mode. The 2560 x 1440 resolution display is covered by Corning Gorilla Glass and the chassis is comprised of aluminum and carbon fiber with a glass touchpad. That chassis will feature 2 USB 3.0 ports, HDMI, full SD card reader slot and headphone jack.
Processor choices include Intel Core i3 or i5 Haswell chips, with RAM maxing out at 4GB and Intel HD 4200 graphics. Storage options will be available ranging from 80GB to 256GB SSD’s, and wireless connectivity will include Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, Intel WiDi wireless display, and NFC. The Ultrabook will come in at 0.6″ thick and weigh about 2.5 pounds, powered by a 40Whr battery.
One of the main things that sets the XPS 11 apart from the original ThinkPad Yoga is the keyboard which will be basically flat and will have 0.5mm travel with customizable feedback which should help alleviate the feeling of pressing moving keys when the Ultrabook is folded in to tablet mode, one of the main niggles with the Lenovo Yoga.
Availability for the XPS 11 is expected in November starting at $ 1000.
