October has arrived, and that of course means Halloween is soon, but more importantly it also means that new ThinkPads will be coming out if Lenovo sticks to their promised release schedule. The ThinkPad T440s recently started selling on the Lenovo Japan website so the hope is that North America is not far behind. Furthermore, the Lenovo Solutions Center site has posted detailed specs and pricing for the new ThinkPad models, so we can get a pretty good idea of where pricing will start on Lenovo.com itself. Here’s some example configurations and pricing:
ThinkPad X240 $ 1,909 – 12.5” HD LED, Graphite Black, Intel Core i5-4300M, 4GB, Intel HD Graphics, 500GB / 7200RPM, Intel 7260 ACABGN + BT, 16GB Express Cache, 3 Cell + 3 Cell, Win 8 Pro 64, 3 Yr Depot
ThinkPad L440 – $ 1,364.00 – 14.0” HD LED, Intel Core i5-4200M SMB, 4GB, Intel HD Graphics, 500GB / 7200RPM, DVD RW, Intel 7260 BGN + BT, 6 Cell, Win 8 Pro 64, 3 Yr Depot
The pricing seems pretty high, especially for the X240, but keep in mind these are B2B prices and we’re likely to see friendlier pricing once the new Haswell equipped ThinkPads show up on the Lenovo.com B2C site and you utilize the various marketing discounts they offer.
