Shortly following Japan-based Sony announced a 20 February event to speak the future of the Playstation, a brand-new report claims a next-generation system may indeed be announced by Sony professionals.

The Wall Street Journal reports, citing “sources”, Sony may unveil the next-generation system plus ship it by Christmas 2013. Sony is mentioned to have scheduled the early event to beat Microsoft to its introduction of the Xbox 720. This strategy has been earlier rumoured.

In its event teaser, Sony was light about details because to what you could see at the event.

Given the Wall Street Journal’s standing plus additional rumours, their report looks especially probably. After the February announcement, many reports have noted which Sony may employ the E3 trade show to speak games plus keep marketing the system up till Christmas where a bevy of sales are expected.

The next-generation PlayStation, dubbed the Orbis, is mentioned to feature a AMD x86 quad-core processor at 3.2GHz, 2GB of RAM, Blu-Ray, 1080p output, plus 320GB HDD. It is mentioned to be 10x more effective than the PS3 currently accessible available.
