Samsung Knox launch has been delayed until a ‘later date’
Posted by FaryaabS on 25 April 2013 at 14:59 Samsung Knox, which was supposed to make a debut with Samsung’s latest Galaxy S4 smartphone, has been delayed until a ‘later date’. In February, Samsung announced Knox, a version of Android with a lot of security features to make Samsung’s Galaxy smartphones ideal for corporate companies and businesses. Samsung, initially, expected to launch its Knox software this spring, but now the company has officially delayed full Knox service to a “later date”. Knox was delayed by Samsung because it still needs to get tested internally and with carriers, according to the two people working on Knox with Samsung. Samsung’s main intention with Knox was to make Android a very secure and reliable OS, as corporate companies weren’t opting for Android devices as the Android OS is less secure and more vulnerable. “All the Knox framework components come standard on the device, with full-feature activation by solution providers and distribution channels to become [...]

Iron Man 3 mobile game capitalizes on pre-movie hype
Gameloft has been teasing its Iron Man 3 game for a few weeks now by releasing a couple of trailers showing off some of the new features. However, the game is now available for your disposal, and it comes just one week before the theatrical release of the movie with the same name, which is set for May 3. The game features an endless-runner aspect, where you fly through the sky defeating various enemies while trying not to get yourself killed. You’ll take on four villains from the Iron Man comic book series, including Crimson Dynamo, Ezekiel Stane, Living Laser, and M.O.D.O.K., all of which will provide a bit of challenge in order to get to the next round. Your character (Tony Stark) will also be responsible for running Stark Industries and you’ll be able to research and develop up to 18 Iron Man suits that you can wear and [...]

Handsfree texting shown to be as dangerous as regular texting
When it comes to texting while driving we often hear talk of going handsfree. The general belief is that it is safer to go handsfree as opposed to hands-on, however a new study is showing that it is not entirely safe to be texting handsfree either. This study was done by the Texas Transportation Institute at Texas A&M University and it compares voice-to-text and non-voice texting in a real-world driving environment. This particular study looked at 43 licensed drivers between the ages of 16 and 60. Each participant in the study drove a total of four times, with each being for 10 minutes. The driving was done at 30 MPH and each driver did one round with no texting, one round with manual texting, one round with voice-to-text using an iPhone and one round using voice-to text with an Android smartphone. The results of the testing showed driver response time [...]
Microsoft and Google visit Samsung Electronics
Posted by DannyD on 23 April 2013 at 11:51 High visitors for Samsung Electronics. Microsoft was at Samsung Electronics and Google will follow up this week. Samsung is currently busy building their own eco-system. Samsung tried this before with their bada operating system but sadly they failed. Samsung’s upcoming operating system TIZEN is expected by the end of this year. This new open source system must be the new big thing for Samsung. Samsung introduced the Galaxy S4 in March and at the launch event there wasn’t any word of Google or Android. Samsung isn’t busy to hype Android. Samsung is busy to introduce their own name / platform using another platform at first place to replace this platform after TIZEN is a big success. This is something which isn’t great news for Samsung’s partners, like Microsoft and Google. Bill Gates, chairman and founder of Microsoft, yesterday met with the Vice Chairman [...]

NVIDIA details 22-day process of developing the Tegra 4i
The NVIDIA team worked long and hard to ensure that the NVIDIA Tegra 4i would be ready to show off by the time Mobile World Congress came around. The team worked non-stop from February 3rd (the day of Super Bowl) to February 25th, the first day of MWC. The entire 22-day process was exhausting, but the NVIDIA team pulled through and was able to bring their next-gen mobile processor into the world. The NVIDIA Tegra 4i is NVIDIA’s first mobile processor with an integrated modem. The modem would allow NVIDIA to bring next-gen wireless networking into the smartphone market. Over 200 engineers got straight to work once their package of new silicon chips arrived at SFO from Taiwan. These engineers sacrificed their social lives and sleep in order to develop their next-gen product. The engineers came from all parts of the world. They worked diligently on testing out new features, [...]

Review: Skitch Touch makes it easy to annotate images in Windows 8′s Modern interface
Evernote-owned free utility Skitch is a great way to annotate images and screenshots. It comes in both Windows and Mac OS X editions, and mobile versions for iOS and Android are available, too. And somewhere between the mobile and desktop versions comes Skitch Touch, the version built for Windows 8′s Modern Interface. It has the same simple and pretty annotation tools as the other versions, but being a Modern app, offers less power and features than the traditional Windows version. Like many other Modern apps, Skitch Touch seems to be designed for screen in the 11- to 13-inch range. On a 24-inch monitor, it ends up displaying vast expanses of white, unused space. As you launch it, Skitch Touch shows a beautiful Create New area on the left side of the screen, letting you create a pull in material to visually annotate from a camera (presumably a tablet’s built-in camera, [...]

Smartphone camera review: Blackberry’s back with the Z10
BlackBerry, the phone maker formerly known as Research in Motion, has a lot riding on the Z10. It’s the debut handset for the long-delayed BlackBerry 10, the operating system that the company hopes will mark the beginning of a turnaround after years of losing ground to Apple’s iOS and Google’s Android platforms. BlackBerry phones are known more for their polished messaging system than their photographic prowess, but on paper the Z10 ticks most of the boxes you’d expect of a high-end phone in 2013: 8-megapixel sensor, fast F2.2 lens, and a high pixel-density display. We put the Z10 camera through its paces: read on to find if it’s worthy of a phone that’s clearly the result of a lot of effort from BlackBerry. Key Photographic / Video Specifications 8 megapixel backside-illuminated sensor F2.2 lens LED flash 1080p 30fps video recording Digital image stabilization Volume-button configurable as shutter release (but no [...]
