iPad mini 2 to hit market in Christmas?
Apple has started the sale of iPad min in November 2012 and the sale was on the role, however if the latest reports are to be believed then Apple has changed its focus from selling iPad mini. The reason could be that Apple would like to reinforce its resources to work on the next version of the iPad mini. Rumors are on high that Apple is going to launch the iPad mini 2 towards the end of this year. Users are not very happy with the iPad mini screen resolution which is relatively low. i. e. 1,024 x 768 and would like Apple to increase the resolution at least 2 times. i .e. 2,048 x 1,536 pixels. Apple is likely to fulfill user’s wish with a sharper display that fits into the same 7.9 inch screen. Many retailers in USA like Wal-Mart and Best Buy have slashed the prices of [...]

Moverio BT-100 augmented reality glasses creators talk taking on Google Glass
The Epson Moverio BT-100 is a pair of augmented reality glasses that, in the wake of the future success of Google Glass and the Occulus Rift, keeps itself unique with its own combination of abilities. This week SlashGear had a chat with Eric Mizufuka, Product Manager of New Markets at Epson and Scott, a member of the Scope AR team about the newest use of this still very developer-stage pair of futuristic glasses: augmented reality industrial product training. As Eric Mizufuka explained this week, the Moverio BT-100 is “a wearable display – smartglasses – with a shade that’s removable.” What you’re seeing with these glasses is an image that can get as large as an 80-inch display depending on what you’re using them for, and they’re able to work with apps such as the one presenting 3D device augmented reality training that Scope AR is showing off this year. At [...]

Acer Iconia W3 Leaked: 8-inch tablet with Windows 8
Microsoft Store’s tablet page shows that Windows tablets are currently available at 10 inches. If the leaked news item is correct, it is expected to change with the launch of 8 inch device from Acer. A French site posted lots of images of what it claims is a future Acer Iconia W3 8-inch tablet. (update: MiniMachines.net has removed the images claiming Acer has asked it to remove) If that is correct, that will be a good news Windows 8 fans since it means a top vendor like Acer is parterning with Microsoft in the tablet market. Microsoft is reportedly working on Windows 8.1 which will optimize the Windows 8 experience on 8 inch devices. As per report, this tab does not use the limited RT version of Windows 8 but a full-blown Windows compatibility. Samsung Knox launch has been delayed until a ‘later date’
Posted by FaryaabS on 25 April 2013 at 14:59 Samsung Knox, which was supposed to make a debut with Samsung’s latest Galaxy S4 smartphone, has been delayed until a ‘later date’. In February, Samsung announced Knox, a version of Android with a lot of security features to make Samsung’s Galaxy smartphones ideal for corporate companies and businesses. Samsung, initially, expected to launch its Knox software this spring, but now the company has officially delayed full Knox service to a “later date”. Knox was delayed by Samsung because it still needs to get tested internally and with carriers, according to the two people working on Knox with Samsung. Samsung’s main intention with Knox was to make Android a very secure and reliable OS, as corporate companies weren’t opting for Android devices as the Android OS is less secure and more vulnerable. “All the Knox framework components come standard on the device, with full-feature activation by solution providers and distribution channels to become [...]

Apple’s Tim Cook hints at new product launches come fall
Apple has just released its Q2 earnings results, and it has many analysts and stockholders pleased, however Apple’s CEO Tim Cook made a statement that should have many consumers pleased as well. Tim Cook stated, “We’ve got a lot more surprises in store”, and that there will be many new product launches beginning in the fall of this year. While its certain that a new iPhone and new iPad will be on its way, there’s also speculation that an Apple TV and an iWatch will be coming as well. Netflix added 3 million subscribers in Q1 2013, unveils $12/month plan for large families
Netflix has reported its Q1 financial earnings, letting investors know it added 3 million subscribers to kick-off 2013. The streaming giant’s total subscriber count has reached over 36 million users worldwide in its eight year existence. As for financials specifically, Netflix boasted $ 1.02 billion in revenue for Q1, slightly more than Wall Street expected. The numbers are solid compared to revenue of $ 870 million in the year-ago quarter, but that’s not without profit loss. For operating and net income, Netflix lost $ 32 million and $ 3 million, respectively. The up-tick in users and revenue may be blamed on the success of Netflix’s House of Cards. As of early February, it became the most-watched piece of content ever for the content site. Interestingly, Netflix says only 8,000 people took advantage of its free trial to watch the Netflix-exclusive House of Cards. “The launch of House of Cards provided a halo effect on our [...]

Ultrabook Market Update by Ultrabooknews
Occasionally, like every business, we update our plans and predictions to make sure we’re on the right course. We’ve just done that for the Ultrabook sector and from what we can see there’s a lot of potential in 2013 for Ultrabooks to rise to the levels of sales that netbooks had three years ago – an ecosystem that many were happy to be in. There’s potential for more in 2014 too as the Ultrabook moves into its third generation. This will be the Ultrabook that Intel wanted to make from day one and is the only Ultrabook iteration that should be used to evaluate the segment. We’re positive that prices, performance, style, battery life, operating system and form factors will impress customers and developers to make the upgrade in 2013 and that we’ll see an impressive sales spike later in the year. Trends The recent Google trend for search is [...]

Daft Punk breaks Spotify streaming record with new Get Lucky single
Daft Punk’s new Get Lucky single has broken all previous Spotify streaming records, managing an undisclosed number of plays. The track, which features on Daft Punk’s new album Random Access Memories, will be the first single the band has released from a studio album since 2005. “There was never any doubt that the first original single from Daft Punk in years was going to be one of the biggest debut singles of 2013,” said Spotify’s director of label relations. Get Lucky was so heavily anticipated that fans took a pair of 15 second Saturday Night Live adverts for the song, remixed them and put together what they imagined would be the final track. The end result was something pretty close to Daft Punk’s own creation. Previously British band Bastille’s song Pompeii had held the record for the most streamed track in the UK. The US record comes in the form [...]

SimCity version 2.0 update hitting 22 April, will be inaccessible for ‘a few hours’
SimCity will get its first major update since launch earlier this spring to address several issues that have accompanied the online-only game. When it first launched, server downtime resulted in many angry gamers, prompting free games to be awarded by Maxis (a division of Electronic Arts). Now the game studio hopes to alleviate further issues that have been found. Most notably, the new version of SimCity will address air pollution coming from nowhere, inexplicable fluctuation of tourists, the removal of phantom audio, and 23 other fixes. Version 2.0 of SimCity will hit users 22 April and will bring the servers of the game down for “a few hours.” It will start at 4 p.m. EST, a time Maxis has chosen by looking at peak usage to affect as little gamers as possible. That means no gaming for you on that day given the online-only component. Many users have knocked Maxis [...]
